Bad Astronomy: Misconceptions and Misuses Revealed, from Astrology to the Moon Landing Hoax by Philip Plait,
Advance praise for Philip Plaits Bad Astronomy "Bad Astronomy is just plain good! Philip Plait clears up every misconception on astronomy and space you never knew you suffered from." Stephen Maran, Author of "Astronomy for Dummies" and editor of "The Astronomy and Astrophysics Encyclopedia" "Thank the cosmos for the bundle of star stuff named Philip Plait, who is the worlds leading consumer advocate for quality science in space and on Earth. This important contribution to science will rest firmly on my reference library shelf, ready for easy access the next time an astrologer calls." Dr. Michael Shermer, Publisher of Skeptic magazine, monthly columnist for "Scientific American," and author of "The Borderlands of Science" "Philip Plait has given us a readable, erudite, informative, useful, and entertaining book. Bad Astronomy is Good Science. Very good science..." James "The Amazing" Randi, President, James Randi Educational Foundation, and author of "An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural" "Bad Astronomy is a fun read. Plait is wonderfully witty and educational as he debunks the myths, legends, and 'conspiracies that abound in our society. 'The Truth Is Out There'-and it's in this book.

Astronomy: The Evolving Universe by Michael Zeilik,
Astronomy: The Evolving Universe by Michael Zeilik,
Thoroughly updated and re-conceived, Astronomy, Ninth Edition, equips the introductory astronomy student with the essential tools for understanding the cosmos. Michael Zeilik has revised the pedagogy of his successful textbook based on recent research in astronomy education. Significantly shorter than the previous edition, the ninth edition is organized into four concept clusters: Cosmic Distances, Heavenly Motions, Celestial Light and Spectra, and Scientific Models. Material has been streamlined throughout to make the descriptions, concepts, and explanations clearer. Each chapter ends with a concise summary of the concepts in each cluster. Each chapter contains at least one Celestial Navigator, a concept map that provides a visual guide of major concepts in the chapter and explicity shows their connections. Throughout, illustrations have been updated to be clearer and more understandable to the novice student. Michael Zeilik, Professor of Physics and Astronomy and former Presidential Lecturer at the University of New Mexico, specializes in innovative, introductory courses for the novice, non-science major student. In 1998, he was appointed a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Science Education. Zeilik's work has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Exxon Educational Foundation, and the Slipher Fund of the National Academy of Sciences. In 1997, the 8th edition of Astronomy: The Evolving Universe won a Texty Award from the Text and Academic Authors Association. In 2002 he was awarded the Astronomy Education Prize by the American Astronomical Society.

Buffalo Museum of Science - Buffalo Museum of Science is a science museum northeast of Buffalo, New York USA near the Kensington Expressway. The attractions include animals, astronomy, the science of technology, and more about science.

Planetary science - Planetary science, also known as planetology or planetary astronomy, is the science of planets, or planetary systems, and the solar system. Incorporating an interdisciplinary approach, planetary science draws from diverse sciences and may be considered a part of the Earth sciences, or more logically, as its parent field.

Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory - Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory (MRAO) is home to a number of large aperture synthesis radio telescopes, including the One-Mile Telescope, 5km Ryle Telescope, and the Arcminute Microkelvin Imager. Radio interferometry started in the mid 1940s on the outskirts of Cambridge, but with funding from the Science Research Council and a donation of £100,000 from Mullard Limited, construction of the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory commenced at Lord's Bridge, a few kilometres to the west of Cambridge.

Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council - PPARC is an abbreviation for the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council, and is the UK's strategic science investment agency based in Swindon. PPARC is the primary organisation coordinating and funding UK research in the fields of particle physics and astronomy.
